A. If you are using 5 gallon pail or bigger barrel to supply water to BirdFaucets.
1) Depending on the length of your water line run, you may need 10 feet to 100s of feet of 1/2" poly tube. This is sold in most local hardware store and you need to buy only the low PSI ploy tube which is easy to work with. Your line preasure from pail or barrel held 4 to 5 feet above ground will be minimal. 100ft of poly tube is under $15.
2) You will need some 1/2 inch poly tube fittings. Depending on how many pens you are watering and how many turns you have, you will need some Ts and elbows. These are very cheap, most of them under a dollar and sold in your local hardware store.
3) You will need a 1/2 inch bulkhead fitting to connect your poly tube to the pail or barrel. You need to drill a hole on the side of the pail/barrel to install the bulkhead fitting.
4) You will need some plastic ties or 1/2 inch hose clamps to secure your line.
5) You should have a means (stand or hanger or platform) to keep your pail/barrel 4 to 5 feet above ground.
B. If you are connecting to your house water line through a garden hose spigot or any other method.
1) Follow your local plumbing code. Most places require you to install a backflow preventor.
2) You must have a Pressure Reducing or Pressure Regulating Valve. This valve must be able to reduce pressure to 5 PSI. Please check this before you buy. Connect this in the line and reduce the pressure of the water entering BirdFaucet to 4 to 5 PSI.
